Journey to Easter – 40-Day Creative Lent Devotional

Hello friend,

Today is not only Valentine’s Day but also the start of the Lenten Season.

This year, Valentine's Day and the start of Lent coincide on February 14th, 2024. While Valentine's Day is usually a joyous celebration of love, this convergence reminds us of a deeper kind of love - God's sacrificial love for humanity.

As we mark Ash Wednesday with somber reflection on our mortality and sins, we are called to focus inward in repentance, fasting and prayer. Jesus' ultimate act of love was willingly submitting himself to the humiliation and agony of the cross to redeem humankind from our fallen state. During this Lenten season, we seek to follow Christ's example through spiritual discipline, good works and sacrificing of our earthly desires.

Yet even in Lenten repentance, we need not forget love - both divine and human. God's unconditional love shown through Jesus is what draws us closer to Him. And our earthly relationships remind us of His loving example as we support and encourage one another on the journey towards Easter joy. This Valentine's Day, remember God's love through both commemoration of relationship and holy observance of Lent.
